pouncing

As a new Etsy shop haver, I've developed a strong sense of empathy for others who are trying to get their shops off the ground.  So, through the magic of pounce, which allows you to check out shops that have not yet had a sale, I've chosen some items that I'm sure you'll want to see. You could be their first customer! They could hang your virtual dollar on the wall of their studio or something.  Think about it:

Interesting ring by Acteon, don't you think?

Have you ever seen a cake like this one by Sweet Indulgences?  I didn't know this was possible.

I like the simplicity of this duvet by ADA Bespoke

If I could only get away with wearing a hat..... it would be this one by Ginchy Millinery

I dig this necklace by Mimiohta

What do you think of this vintage dress by Sheilaleilani

And I just can't finish this post without including Simon by Grelin Machin. He requires no commentary.

ode to my boots

I adore my boots. Let me count the ways...

1. warm toes
2. and shins
3. compliments!
4. feeling all fashion forward
5. they make me smile
6. their brown leather loveliness
7. general all around awesomeness.
What's your favorite possession these days?

confession time

OK, I admit it.  I get all of my news from the yahoo page.  It comes in controlled, positive/negative balanced doses.  With a little celebrity gossip and trivia thrown in.  I know it's socially irresponsible, but it's the truth.
On the plus side, the yahoo page has brought me the following:
The Color Career Counselor:
A color based test to determine your career interests and skills. Take it immediately- it's super fun, and amazingly accurate, I think.  I should probably get some feedback from others before spreading that conclusion all over the internet though.  So let me know what you think after you've taken it- did it describe you perfectly?

asked and answered

So, I'm a runner.  I haven't exactly been keeping track of how many races I have run, but my fridge is covered in race bibs and I have a closet full of race t-shirts.  Why would a semi-organized person keep all of these t-shirts, you ask?
If she's the crafty type, she may be promising herself and others that she will some day find a creative and appealing way to make them all into a quilt.  But she may have been promising this for years.
A few days ago, she may have stumbled upon the answer
Apparently, I'm not the only one trying to make cool stuff out of t-shirts.  Craftzine.com's blog has a pretty darn cool t-shirt quilt:

And specific directions on how to do it.  I love a good tutorial, don't you?  What do you think?  Can I take stuff like this:

and turn it into something sort of like this?

photo kaleidocycle

This is so cool.  Just go to this link, upload some of your favorite photos, print the whole mess out, and you'll end up with a cootie-catcher type paper creation that cycles through the different photos as you alter its shape.  I know, I know, my description is NOT doing it justice, so just follow the link.  If only the printers in my life were not conspiring against me, I could print out one of my own....

studio shindig!

I am insanely psyched about the etsy shop my BFF and I have started! My house is a whirlwind of felt and paper from all the creating we've been doing, but it's all worth it. We're making reusable party decorations that I think are really cute and fun. And.... we had our first sale the other day!
You can check our shop out here.

fun with fonts

I am falling a bit in love with a new website: dafont.com.  First of all, it's got some awesome fonts. Secondly, it has a faux gangsta name, and there's nothing cooler in the world. As far as I'm concerned.  Here are some of my faves...
